What is Kuudere?
Kuudere is a term used to refer to the Japanese personality. This word combines the words “kuuru” (cool) and deredre, a word used to describe the personality that is unleashed when a person has feelings for another person.
So in general, what does Kuudere mean? To make it easy to understand, this word refers to people with a calm personality, little expression of emotions, sometimes a bit cold. Gradually, when spending time with the person they like, the Kuudere will show extremely strong emotions.

Kuudere in Japanese manga, anime
Previously, Kuudere used to be a character model used a lot in manga or animation works from Japan. Some notable names we can mention include:

- Mei Misaki in Another.

Bringing a cool, mysterious and “classy” feeling to the character, the image of Kuudere has a strong impression in the hearts of the audience. However, in recent years, the Kuudere has gradually disappeared and is in danger of becoming extinct in the future.
Kuudere is slowly disappearing from Japanese manga and anime
Why is Kuudere so popular that he is slowly disappearing. The main problem is in their character. Kuudere is usually cold and quiet, so when standing among more prominent characters, they will almost “disappear”. To compensate, the creator will have to think of more “new charms” for the character.
Another reason why Kuudere gradually disappeared is because this character needs a lot of time to reveal his personality. Because of that, the beginnings of these characters will be very similar – like dolls following the story. This may create curiosity at first, but once it has appeared in many works, the audience easily loses interest. At this point, it is more effective to use other character models.
In the end, Kuudere is hard to be the main character. One of the main character’s tasks in manga and anime is to “make connections” and “allow the audience to embody”. The original Kuudere didn’t have many special things so it was difficult to do that.
