Recently, the trailer and new poster for the movie Sword Art Online: Progressive 2 have been announced, the film is expected to air in September this year.
The highly-anticipated SAO movie called Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night has released a new poster and trailer before the movie officially hits theaters on September 10.
Along with the trailer and poster for the film, singer Eir Aoi, who performed the theme songs of “Innocence” and “Ignite”, will perform the song “Shinzo” (“Heart”) for the movie Scherzo. of Deep Night.
The production team from the first season will return to their old roles, subtitled “Scherzo of Deep Night”, the film will be produced at A-1 Pictures, including Ayako Kono as director, Kento Toya as producer. Character designer and animation director, Yasuyuki Kai is the action director and monster designer, and Yuki Kajiura is the composer.
Voice actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu are also confirmed to return as Kirito and Asuna, along with Shiori Izawa (Made in Abyss’ Nanachi) as Argo “The Rat”, an information broker in Sword Art Online.

Sword Art Online Progressive: Kuraki Yuuyami no Scherzo is an animated science fiction film adaptation of the fourth Sword Art Online Progressive light novel volume by Reki Kawahara and Kōno Ayako. The film was produced by A-1 Pictures and distributed by Aniplex. It is the second film in the series after Sword Art Online: Boundary of Illusion (2017) and Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night (2021). The Japanese release date is scheduled for September 10, 2022.
On November 6, 2022, 10,000 players log into SAO for the first time, only to discover that they can’t log out of the game. Kayaba reveals herself to tell the player that they must defeat all 100 floors of Aincrad, the giant castle that is the setting of SAO if they want to exit the game, only then can they log out. Dying in-game or having the NerveGear removed from their heads will cause them to have their brains destroyed by the NerveGear, so they will die in real life.
The story revolves around Kirito and Asuna. Due to fear and sadness from being stuck in the game, Asuna decided to avoid parties and guilds. She vowed to fight alone, becoming a strong player later. Kirito was one of 1,000 beta testers for SAO. He had the advantage of knowing important details about the game and the bosses of the floors. He also isolated himself from other players and played the game alone. As the story goes deeper, more is revealed about both players and their struggles with being trapped inside the game.
